dont do so yet. Perhaps there is another factor. let tank sit for an hour with nothing on, and then check temp. if it lowers, somethings not right.

how many gallons is tank? and how deep?
the thermometer must be whacked out, if the tank is at 81, and room at 72, its not possible for water to be that hot. heck, it should be much cooler.
if your good with electronics, heres a good reliable, cheap ballast. Just wire to sockets, reflector, and presto you have light..... Fulham...

it has to be......otherwise you wouldnt get that high of a temperature......
if it works ;) Depends on your tank size, but if they match, all you need to do is replace bulbs for a marine reef setup, and your good to go ;)
turn the little knob on the heater a little bit lower ;)
