I think that it has to do with the tank(sand) getting mature and/or you guys not cleaning out your sandbed when performing a WC. A sand shifting...
If your still cycling, you dont need to test for Alk/Dkh, Cal or even PH. The only three elements that you should worry about is Nh3, No2 and No3...
That does sound weird. Did you test for Nh3 and No2?( I know its a dumb Q, but I gotta ask) Try using double or even triple the amount of carbon...
