    i think you only need one also. i would do the 36 inch with 250 halide(i assume your tank is quite tall since its only 40 wide).

    if its splitting its a good sign, i think the heads need to grow apart more before growing that way the heads won't crowd each other

    make sure you get a equipment closet, and that you can get to stuff in the tank, and you probably cant make it too big lol
