    I used a bunch of that to stack my rocks on top of. No ill effect to speak of so far and it does color up nicely in short order.

    You will want a pump capable of around 400-500 gph to take care of head pressure with a ball valve in the line to dial it back. I like Rio pumps....

    IMO its not worth the problems you could have to keep the sand. You will probably want 70 lbs. minimum new sand. Keeping the water moving in the fish...
