    110 gallon tank on carpet?

    I think most just cut a piece of plywood to fit under the stand. I just put mine right on the carpet though. No problems so far.

    Oh, in that cause, it should help to stabilize the pH. Not sure what could be causing the swing. What time of day are you doing you tests?

    Yep completely normal, pH will be highest at lights off and lowest in the morning before the lights come on.

    The old water isn't going to help with the cycle, but the filter will. Bacteria live on surfaces not in the water column. The old water will help...
