After reading a thread about grounding probes earlier today I decided to check my tank with a volt meter and it measured 0.3 volts. Would that be considered dangerous for my fish, corals, snails or crabs?

Were you measuring AC or DC voltage? Also, how were you measuring? Were both leads in the water, or was one on a ground and the other in the water?

it probably irritates them and stress them if its not dangerous. so i would still try to find out whats making it.

DC. One probe in the water and the other to a metal bar I inserted into the ground.

Thanks for that. I suppose the way to test what the problem is by process of elimination.

.3V DC? I would check AC because you are feeding the tank AC voltage, and not much DC.. Are you having issues with your tank, and this is the first thing that you are checking?

I've checked a few times and each time the reading gets lower. The last reading was 0.17.

No reading with AC. No problems really, I just thought I would check.
