Need some input guys, so here's the skinny:

I've got my RO/DI filter setup on my 2nd floor tapped into the water line for the washing machine and filling a 20 gallon rubbermaid container with float valve currently.
Additionally I have a 12 gallon container next to my tank on the first floor that I fill manually via 1 gallon jugs from the second floor for my ATO.

I want to be able to automate this procedure. I have a float valve coming in the mail for my 12 gallon container next to my tank and quite a bit of the same 1/4" tubing that RODI unit uses. My plan is to install a bulkhead in my holding container on the second floor to run the 1/4" tube downstairs into my 12 gallon container for the ATO.. Simple..

First I need a better container upstairs. One that's more rigid so when filled up it doesn't bow out and break the seal on the bulkhead. So far, I've only been able to find this one locally. 27 Gallon Superbox. Seems pretty rigid, and don't think it would bow. I'm kind of worried about it leaching unwanteds into the fresh water though. Siliciates and the like.. What do you guys think? Any suggestions?

Additionally, I need to find a 1/4"OD jaco bulkhead to run the line down to the first floor. Do these even exist? I haven't been able to find anything yet?

What I did was get two steralite 20 gal (something like that) storage containers and I built a shelf for them and connected the two containers with 3/4" pvc and uniseals and put a ball valve in between the containers and at the bottom to fill up buckets

so I fill the bottom container, close the valve, fill the top

About the container being safe, read this http://www.3reef.com/forums/general-reef-topics/reef-safe-plastics-leaching-myths-facts-57828.html

You can get the uniseals from Bulk reef supply its the same as a regular bulk head just cheaper and easier, just use a regular hole saw to drill the holes

for the line in from the rodi just drill a 1/4" hole in the lid and shove the tubing threw

I use a Rubbermaid 23 gallon recycling can. I had to build a collar that slips up under the rim( sorry no pics ) so it holds its shape but it works quite well. You can see my 1/4" bulkheads installed in the storage can in the pics along with my float switches.
You can also make your own small bulkheads using a 1/4" x 1/2" John Guest x male iron pipe adapter with a 1/2" O-ring and 1/2" threaded PVC coupling. Drill the hole so the bulkhead fits snugly, slip it in with an O-ring on the outside, push another O-ring over the threads on the inside and screw the coupling on. Another option is use the John Guest x MIP adapter and O-rings but use a gray plastic lock or jamb nut like used for electrical fittings instead of the coupling.
