I am in the midst of setting up my 55 gallon tank at the moment. I have a pair of 7-8 month old tank raised juvenile True Percula clowns in my 29gal at the moment and I was wondering what kind of fish would be suitable tank mates for them? I still need to get my skimmer working and more live rock, so I have plenty of time to search.
I like the yellow watchman goby, clown goby, and diamond goby (not sure if any of these or any goby for that matter, can be mixed or not)
I also like many Tangs, but I am not certain if there are any that would be comfortable in a 55 gallon .

Any suggestions? If you know of a fish, invertabrate, or anything else that may go well in my tank, it would be much appreciated!

Yellow watchman's are cool just make sure he can't jump out of your tank, had that happen to mine :( The Royal Gramma fish is nice also, they seem to have alot of personality but they can be a bit  evil from time to time lol. Sexy Shrimp, and/or skunk cleaner shrimp are always nice to watch. Hope that helps ;D

A Kole Tang is nice. They require at least a 30 gallon tank, and according to this site, most specimens are 2-3" when purchased. Tangs can get big, but this particular tang is mostly peaceful.

Mine won't touch nori sheets, though. :-/

He will not eat them, sam he am.

:sweethearOh Sparky he's adorable! I forgot about ol' yellow eyes. I saw one of these the other day, but I didn't know what he was.

(Lol @ the Dr. Suess reference.)

esqu37107-Thanks for the suggestions. I do love to watch shrimp, they're so funny.

    Hi Swagger
You did not mention if you want corals or not for this tank
if not - some of the dwarf angels are beautiful - Flame, coral beauty, fireball to name but 3
can sometimes be a problem in tanks with corals in - but many are in reef set ups

its a gamble - but when it pays off , you have a great looking fish

Oh yeah:drool:Duh!! I do have a couple of corals and I would love to get more.
I have heard mixed review on coral beauties, so I guess it's just the fish itself. I could always give it a go and if he's a coral munching nightmare then I can just bring him back.
Thanks Steve, as always a big help. ;D

He will not eat green eggs and nori! Neither would I!

Your thread title caught my attention immediately. Read Dr. Seuss books a few thousand time over the years!

You can see my stock list under my sig for a 46 gallon. I'm very pleased with my choices and all get along well. Our favorite pairing by far is the watchman goby and tiger pistol shrimp.

I had a coral beauty that jumped. Great fish, though. Never touched the corals. It's hit and miss on that. I have a pygmy angel who never touched anything until I got my bubble coral. Basically destroyed that. Good luck with your selections!

Thanks Triplemom. Now where can I get a Fuzzy thing? Lol. I've always liked coral beauties.
I went out and got one of those plastic grate things (proper name please?) to cover the top of my tank in advance. Dont wanna see no fish crisps on my floor. (Has horrible memories of Jackson the Betta...:( )
What kind of gobies and Shrimp usually pair up?

John Maloney, Reeflcleaners.org! He can hook you right up with fuzzy things! It's actually a fuzzy chiton, and I now have 2.

I guess you're talking about egg crate for the plastic grate thing (another thing). Good idea. We had 2 bad fish jumping losses before adding our canopy.

As far as shrimp-goby pairs, we started with a high fin goby (they were paired up in the LFS). It never did acclimate well in the tank and was our only non-jumping fish death in 9 months. We then had an aurora (pink bar) goby - they paired up immediately, but it jumped out. We've had the yellow watchman for months now - they are a great pair. All I'll say is to make sure you have a good sand bad (ours is probably 2+ inches) and lay the rock on the bottom glass before adding sand. Our rock is secured together in places with marine putty also - if you do a shrimp/goby pair, you'll be amazing at how they can dig tunnels and turnover the sand. It could be a recipe for disaster, as far as rock slides, if not anchored well.

    Egg crate...yup that be it
Yeah I laid my rocks on the glass first and then put in the sand. My sand bed is about 1 1/2" deep.
