Smells like rotten eggs? That would be sulfur & or iron deposits. We had that smell too in or water(when I lived out in the country a few years ago) We ended up getting an RO unit for the house which I piggy backed off of for tank water.

Now I live in town & have city-water. That city water is also in my tank(lol. bad, me). But I've only got one fish & no corals.

 

If you use one of those clip PC lights youd be able to keep coral. I could see that tank covered in shrooms, sexy shrimp and perhaps a brittle starfish!

just a heads up on the harlequin. you can't feed a harlequin shrimp a live brittle star. i will try to keep it short but basically when a starfish gets attacked it freezes up and wont move allowing the harlequin tofeast whenever they want. a brittlestar on the otherhand does not stop moving so they would never be able to eat the brittle star.

 

yea i might get a mini PC fixture thats 9 watts, just to put on the top for some corals lol.

 

in the tap water the finger leather coral wont open. it has shrunk and doesnt look good. i put some gracilaria and chaeto in to see what would happen.
