thanks for the compliments guys and yea i did some more reading last night and i also found that the bumble bee shrimp are related to harlequins so they too eat starfish tube feet so i assume they have been munching on my tiny little brittle stars legs lol. oh and Cjiggajess my friend has an abundance of those little tiny astrina starfish so im going to see if they will eat them and if they do ill let you know. as far as updates i started working on the light last night ill post some pics in a couple hours when i can get them uploaded to photobucket and it should be done by tonight.

ok i got the pics up on photobucket here is what ive been working on

this is the one of 4 white led panels ill be using
    [IMG]
    and this is it on
    [IMG]
this is one of 5 blue led panels ill be using
    [IMG]
    and this is it on
    [IMG]
ill be gluing them on to the this egg crate that i cut to fit the lid in 3 rows of three in this order
    bwb
    wbw
    bwb
    [IMG]
and here is the tank with 6 of the 9 panels glued on and running
    [IMG]
it gives off a nice 12k sorta look
keep in mind i still have to add three more panels and figure out a way to lift it off of the lid a little bit so the heat doesnt transfer to the tank

so i finished the light all except the legs to lift it off the tank

this is what it looks like. not the best looking rig ive ever made but it works
    [IMG]
here it is over the tank with all nine lights which makes it a 5 to 4 ratio of blue to white
    [IMG]
and here is the pic i posted before with just the first six panels which is a 50/50 ratio of blue to white
    [IMG]

i personally like it better with more blue it looks closer to 14000k what do you guys think?

and finally a pic of the wireing on top its not the prettiest but right now were going for functionality not aesthetics but i may figure out a cover or something down the road to pretty it up a bit [IMG]

ok so the set up of the tank is complete the light has legs as of 645 this morning since my body decided to wake me up 35 mins before i needed to be lol. now all thats left is to stock it.

and i have a question for you guys i was supposed to do a watercange last night on it but i ended up having to work 5 more hours than expected so i didnt have time. but anyway i have 3 reactors on my main tank that run inline the first is purigen then gfo and the last is carbon and it runs back into the sump. my question is should i use the water that comes out of the reactors to refill the pico since its super clean or should i just dip some out of the display?
