today is the 4th week/1 month mark for this tank ive made a few changes to the tank in the last week. earlier this week i decided to check the temp on it i didnt expect it to be off because all of the corals were happy but it turns out it was 85!

so i went digging through my little box of leftover electronics stuff and found a small fan that runs on 12 volts which is what my lights run on so i used silicone to secure it to the back glass because silicone is strong enough to hold the fan there as long as i need but weak enough to be removed without damaging the glass [IMG]
the two circles are posts that come down from the main body that held it in place on whatever it was originally used on and you can see leftover glue that i used to secure it in another project [IMG]
i put silicone on those two posts and stuck them to the glass and used a small bottle and the dry side of my little magfloat to hold it in place till the silicone set [IMG]
i spliced the fans wires into a plug that fit the diy harness i made for the lights so i could use the same driver and plug and unplug it with ease if i ever needed to [IMG]
i also added these little starfish that like to burrow in the sand that giant peach colored blob is my index finger to give you an idea of scale [IMG]
the ricordia didnt really ever open up or color up where it was at so i moved it up towards the top and it is starting to show some of its orange color again [IMG]
and in its old place i put three blastos all three of them kept getting knocked off of the rock they were glued on because it was too smooth and the two on the left got stung by a favia so i figured id give them a new home that they wouldnt have to worry about getting stung or knocked around in [IMG]
and here under the blastos you can see some little bits and pieces of pipe organ coral that my friend gave me they were so small and light that they got blown around by the pump so i glued them to a frag plug [IMG]
and i also moved a second baby fungia into the pico temporarily it will be going to whippy as soon as we can figure out the whole shipping thing [IMG]
and they both eat flake food :)

i got ahold of some more glue so the montipora finally got put in its permanent spot [IMG]
and just for ****s and giggles i took a video of one of my astrina stars that somehow found its way onto the waters surface and started walking around upside down. i turned the pump off for a minute so you could see his tiny little tube feet moving him across the water :)

its week five and time for another update. first thing is i forgot to mention quite a bit of stuff in my last update cause it was a pretty pic heavy update and i just completely forgot so well start with that. i added some pipe organ coral about a week and a half to two weeks ago and they are open and doing great [IMG]
and something weird happened and now i have a zombie snail. i was picking random stuff out of my main tank like little rocks and shells and i laid them all on the counter next to the tank and they sat there for a week or so and i decided to put one of the shells in the pico since the hermits had already changed once and might need a bigger one soon. no less than five minutes after i put the shell in i noticed it was gone so i figured one of the hermits had changed into it already and then a few minuets after that i noticed the sand moving around and out popped a nassarius snail and it had the same shell i had just put in and that had been sitting out dry for over a week [IMG]
and i also found a stomatella snail which i had not put in so it must have hitchhiked in when i put a coral or something and lucky for me it was a very small one which is appropriate for this tank [IMG]
i think that was it for what i missed last week now on to this week i was looking at the ricordia and saw that it is starting to show some good color here it is when i first moved it up to the top [IMG] and what it looked like day before yesterday [IMG] as far as growth all of my zoanthid colonies have put out another polyp or two each and my fungia has grown since i have started feeding it in the past couple weeks its almost the size of a half dollar now and you can also see the hitchhikeing stomatella on the front glass here as well [IMG]
and you probably wont be able to really make it out but there is a tiny little snail in these pics its so small that i cant even tell what it is yet but there are actuallly two of them in the tank i saw the other one after i took the pics and the second one is even smaller then the one in these pics. but i figure since they are so small they were probably born in this tank maybe the eggs were on something that i put in the tank [IMG] [IMG]
well thats it for this week hopefully i didnt forget anything lol
