Well i had to setup a 10 gal nano for my papua new guinea clownfish today. My tang wanted to bully him a little too much. So i got to liking the nano aquarium look in the bedroom so i want to pretty much deck out his little home him and possible one other fish will be in it also i want to keep plenty of coral with it. Now the question i have is i want to get the cheapest lighting that will keep coral and make them grow as well at the same time not making the tank too hot. What are some cheap suggestions?

What kind of coral? Softies/LPS or SPS? If you just want to grow softies and some LPS probably get away with a T5 ... SPS maybe some of those EBAY chinese LED lights.

PAR38 led bulb or two,t-5 would also be good but would create a little more heat.

The term cheap in this hobby seem to be relative. If you go with bulb type then there is the cost of replacing those bulbs. And then there's the electric bill, although on a 10g I can't imagine it is that much. I would look for a 1st or even 2nd generation led unit. It may be a little more than a t5 but you could keep anything and ultimately it would pay for itself in savings. I see all kinds of used units available from people that have upgraded. I picked up a 120w led chip with lens and heat sink for 40 bucks. Its strictly 20000k but it looks just like a mh.
