Well last night was the first time I saw this little guy in person with the exception of its face. It was fast, too fast to get a picture. What better time then to start a build thread.

As said its a 10 gallon tank. I am running a standard hob wheel filter. I have ten pounds of live rock. I have thrown in some easy to care for corals from my main tank. For lighting I have boost led par30, and two daylight fluorescent bulbs. Please see the attached picture. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1335969563.127771.jpg

looks neat, make sure you keep the par bulb cleaned regular, mine was ten inches from the surface and I had salt build up on it frequently.

I may be wrong, but Im pretty sure mantis shrimp dont like alot of light. The LED may be a little much.

The previous owner (ccapasso) had it under the same light. Maybe he can shed some 'light' on this topic.

I feel that you do have a little too much light. If nothing else i would raise the lights up more. Mantis can get shell rot and disease from too much light.

What type of mantis do you have.............. cant wait to see pictures of him

This species of mantis G. Viridis resides in shallower waters and can be kept with higher lighting.

Mantis that are in deeper waters (such as the Peacock Mantis that I am getting) cannot have high lighting. They can get shell rot.

This little guy is not prone to it and should be fine with that light.

I raised the led bulb as suggested. Last night I took a piece of krill. Couldn't get any pictures tho.
