Thanks a lot man! It's actually just now starting to look decent lol at first it was boring..then it got just plain ugly..but I feel like I have it pretty well under control now. Hopefully things will just keep getting better.

i am sure it will continue to get better. how is your mantis's behavior? is it shy? how often does it come out? i would like to learn more about different species of stomotopod behavior.

He is pretty shy. Hangs out in his PVC den pretty much all day just poking his head out. Definitely not as interactive as the G. smithii.

The majority of the snails in there are dwarf ceriths. I like having smaller snails. I had a turbo snail in there not too long ago and when he broke it open and dragged it to his den it really fouled up the water. I also have a bunch of assorted hermit crabs. He just eats them as he pleases.

If there are no snails or anything in there though I give him one krill/week.

    Ok,

I always had a creeped out feeling about Mantis Shrimps especially after tearing down my tank to find a ugly brown one. But your mantis shrimp IS SO CUTE! I love how he takes pieces of coral to place in front of his home! Also I laughed at the clownfish caption. They love to go in just about anything and he is a cute little guy to!

Haha I'll admit..they are kind of creepy. And I hate having to use tongs to adjust anything in the tank. Even if I know exactly where he is..I don't trust him! I'll also be laying in my bed (right next to the tank) and look over and he has his little eyes pressed up against the glass staring at me.

I really wouldn't suggest this species. Yeah, they look AWESOME, but I would trade that for activity. From what I have heard, the G. Smithii is much more active. I see mine actually run around the tank maybe once a week. But yes, either species would be fine in a 20. Glad you like it!

Awesome mantis, reef tank, pics and videos. Thank you so much.

I think I have an idea for my 2nd tank, once the time comes.

    Thanks!
