Glad I could help! Thanks for stopping by!

When I made a reefcleaners order last week, John threw in a small tube anemone. After "planting it" I watched the mantis rip it out of the ground and drag it to his den. Two days later..I find this!

No idea how it made it out!

Haven't posted in a while so here's a quick update.

Had a bit of an algae issue lately..so I'm working on getting that under control.

Just changed my lighting to 2 of the Ecoxotic PAR38 LED bulbs.

The mantis is undergoing a molt at the moment..watched pieces of his old shell (I hope!!) drift out of his den this morning.

I'll probably post a few pictures once he comes back out. I noticed that he had some funny spots on his shell where it looks like it was deteriorating, hopefully that was just him getting ready for the molt. Haven't noticed that before though.

no..more like one or two small faded spots right above the tail. Only 1-2 mm in diameter. Hopefully they'll be gone with the new molt. It was literally right before he started molting (or died..not exactly 100% sure yet haha).

Well it doesn't sound like shell rot, but it could have been the early stages. Probably just related to the molt, but I may be tempted to remove the discolored pieces if you haven't already. If they are floating around he is done with them anyway.

Just returned from a week of vacation...No sign of him.

I'm beginning to think that he had a bad molt....

I'm going to give it another week before I call it for sure.

Very sorry for your loss. :-(

I have never owned one, but I know that people become very fond of them.
