I hope so too! I think Bo is just finishing up a molt - we haven't seen him much in about 2 weeks. This time we never saw his shedded exoskeleton (kind of gross - they eat it). He did grab krill off the tongs tonight. :)

Is there a noticeable size difference when the do molt? I can usually tell when my CBS molts before I see the exoskeleton just by his size increase.

Most definitely! With mantis shrimp, they can molt and totally change color too (like Jwin's recently did)!

I guess it was a false alarm on the molt. He hung out i his den for a day but the next was back to beatin the hell out of everything.

Sadly, his roommate the royal gramma passed away last night. He had ich that got pretty severe within the past couple of days. So it looks like I'll be fishless for a while. Sure am glad shrimp can't get it!!

NO SIR! NO No no no no. Iodine does not help them molt, it MAKES them molt, and kills them most of the time. There is never ever a need to dose iodine with a mantis. In fact, there's no real need to dose it with anything at all. Iodine will most likely kill a mantis shrimp, especially if they aren't ready for a molt.

DEFINITELY molting. He was going nuts for a week or so redecorating and smashing everything in sight. Now he hasn't came out of his den for 4 days.

I hope he's molting at least!

Well after the molt he is out and about again. I would say he's 20% bigger..definitely a big difference! Nice and shined up too.

He's patiently awaiting his reefcleaners shipment. He's wiped out almost everything!
