A 10 gallon tank is the largest I can fit under my stand. While I know that a small tank I figured I could go with a hob skimmer to save some room for my fuge. What kind of problems would I run into with such a small sump?

Well you would have to make sure there is enough room for the sump to not overfill during a power outage. Keep your syphon break as close to the surface as possible.
Also you probably wont have a very big return area so either have an ato set up or make sure you keep an eye on it so it doesnt run dry.

You should build something out of acrylic, how tall is your stand?

I will be using a 10g sump for my 29g tank. The 10g will be almost all fuge, with a HOB skimmer & a 5g ATO bucket. I haven't decided on a return pump yet.

    What does this mean?

The interior section of the stand is 22"Lx20"Hx11W. The stand is in my avatar. The tank is a 29g and yes id like to have a fuge, that's why I was gonna try a hob skimmer....

You could hang the skimmer on the fuge, instead of on the tank. That way, you don't see the skimmer at all when you're looking at the tank.

Yea blackraven that was my plan, guess I shoulda made myself clearer. Have the overflow flow in, a bubble trap, return section with hob skimmer, then the fuge on the other side. Over flow split between over flow in and fuge. If that makes sense lmao...
