I have been wanting a sump and/or refugium for my tank. I have no room in my crappy stand for one but I think I can fit a 10 gallon tank behind my 46 gallon bowfront. I figured a small sump may be better than no sump. Is it worth the trouble?

Anyway, if I do build one, can I use acrylic for the baffles and silicone them in, or should I use glass? I'm sure I will have plenty of other questions if I do build this.

A ten would be fine, especially if you can fit all the equipment (skimmer, heater, etc) in it.Gives you a place to add needed chemicals and such without dumping them straight into the dt.You can use acrylic baffles if you want, wouldn't go with any size smaller than 1/4" or it will flex alot. Although silicone doesn't adhere to acrylic too well it will be fine on the baffles just make sure to use a good thick bead on both sides and it will stay in place.
