10 gallons almost done cycling. how much longer?

    my ten gallons been setup since 10-27-09. my params are as follows:
    Ph-between 8.4 and 8.8
    ammonia-.25ppm
    nitrate-20ppm
    nitrite-o
    am i close to being done cycling? how much longer do you think it will be before i can add something?

    Is it nitrate or trite that 20ppm?

    Mine had readings about the same, then a week and half later when i checked again it just zeroed everything out. But every tank is different, but your getting closer :)

    well it shouldnt be too much longer i only set up my ten gallon two weeks ago and in a couple of days ill be done cycling but i have alot of sand and live rock in there and ive been feeding it phcyopure everyday which feeds the liver rock organisms.

    If you're still seeing ammonia I would guess you still have at least a week or two. If you're seeing ammonia it means you still have something decaying in there and the bacteria have not caught up to the first stage of nitrification. It's hard to say though because it really depends how much organic material is in your rocks/sand that needs to break down. Just keep testing. :)

    well arent you lucky. lol i dont have liverock yet. when i get it i will get it from reefcleaners.com though. i put flake food in to start the cycle in my tank. and some krill.

    for a 10 gallon tank thats alot... did you take some of it out?

    yes i took some out of it. when the krill had a film over it i took it out. the flake food is gone now. im not running carbon.

    after all your levels are zero wait and make sure that they stay at zero for about a week and a half and then it should be done
