Great feedback. Thanks! I'll look in to picking those up.

Is that much flow going to negatively affect fish or anemones in any way?

    My planned fish list:
    2 clowns
    1 blue tang
    1 yellow tang
    1 foxface
    1 diamond watchman goby
    1 lawnmower blenny
    7 blue chromis
    3 pajama cardinals
1 flame angel (still undecided on this one)

Plus the assorted cleaning crew of emerald crabs, hermits, snails, shrimp, etc.

A couple things I want in the tank:

    BTA
    Frogspawn
    Zoanths
    Atomic Torch Coral
    Assorted SPS

I'm planning on setting up the rock in a half moon creating a stepped effect to provide good light for everyone in the tank.

Good info thanks. The blue tang was for the kids (damn Finding Nemo lol) and my lfs said I should be fine with one as long as I get one as a juvenile and don't take the rock too high which im not planning on. Im planning on doing a half moon rock form following the angles of the tank with a few bridges to allow full front to back swimming as well. They said that with 48" of radius I will be fine with 1 blue tang.

Not disagreeing with you just giving you the background of some of the info I've gotten. If that information is incorrect please let me know (hence why I asked for feedback ;) ).

As far as the foxface I'm wanting a foxface lo. From what I can find and have learned is that they are mainly a threat to LPS and softies and mainly if they're not fed well. I've read some having horrible experiences and much more about having no problems with a good selection of algae and nori.

I'm planning on waiting a good 6+ months on the BTA hence why I will be adding Frogspawn for now as I've read that clowns will work well with frogspawn in absence of an anemone.

My cleaner crew list that I've put together is:

    2 emerald crabs
    10 astrea snails
    5 trochus snails
    2 skarlet skunk shrimp
    5 scarlet hermits
    5 blue legged hermits

To start out and expanding as needed. As far as the fish go I will be adding them over a good 6 months or so (bought a 40b for a hospital tank during the dollar a gallon sale).

I am currently expecting a 4 - 6 week cycle using the dry fiji I ordered from BRS (got to love free shipping deals) and bahama oolite live sand with a table shrimp. After the cycle is done I'm going to drop in the cleanup crew and toss the chromis into QT.

Good info on the pistol shrimp tho. I thought those were the ones that were bad for glass aquariums though cause they can break the glass. Or am I confusing them with another shrimp?

Pistols are super cool. I sure hope they don't break the glass! Their pop is awfully loud but it's not against the glass - maybe because they burrow and can knock rock over that causes it to crack.?

Looking forward to seeing your tank with water and critters! I have a 54 corner and am interested to see how your scape yours. Welcome to the addiction!

The reason why I wouldn't add a Blue Tang is because of the stress that it would cause on it. They can get ich fairly easily, which can spread to your other fish if not treated. IMO I wouldn't risk it, but it's your decision ;)

It's always iffy when it comes to an Anemone hosting Clownfish. Sometimes the Clowns will go right to the Anemone, and sometimes they won't even give it a second look. I would imagine that it might be harder to get a Frogspawn to host them, but there's always a chance :)

That sounds like a good CuC to start out with, but I would highly recommend checking out reefcleaners.org when you want to add more :)

That would be a good way to start the cycle, although dry sand will become live sand relatively quickly instead of buying live sand. I guess it comes dowm to preference.

The 40B would be perfect for a QT.

I think you are both thinking about Mantis Shrimp. Pistol Shrimp can't break the glass, and even though Mantis Shrimp can break glass, it would need to be a very large specimen hitting a thin piece of glass to break it ;)

It's also iffy on the Foxface Lo, as, like you said, some can be angels and some can kill a bunch of corals. The same goes for most angelfish.

That sounds like a pretty heavy stocking list for a 100 corner.

I have a 150 corner with the following:

    1 Kole Tang
    1 Firefish
    1 Chalk Bass
    1 PJ Cardinal
    2 Ocellaris Clown
    1 Orchid Dottyback
    1 Starry Blenny

I added a small Hippo Tang tonight to keep the family happy (had to have Dori :) ), but I think that was the final straw. I'm probably going to trade in the PJ card, the chalk bass, or both if I can catch them to thin it out a bit.

Even though this is a 150 gal, it only has a 48" side coming out from the corners, and the shape, while great for depth in aquascaping, means that the fish are always kind of on top of each other. That can't get at opposite ends of a 6' tank and avoid each other like they could if this were a rectangular 150 gallon. IMO, you need to have a stocking list like it was a 55-75 gallon rectangular tank.

The corner tanks work great for coral placement and aquascaping, but not so well for heavy/big fish stocking IMO.

Good info thanks! Unfortunately I don't think the wife or kids will let me get by without a "Dori" in the tank so we'll see who wins out in the end. :/ If I do end up getting one I'll make sure it's a juvenile and under careful watch though.

Yeah I've heard that clowns can be picky at times to what they will host and others just move right on in. My LFS usually keeps paired clowns in tanks with BTAs or Frogspawn to get them acclimated and try to get them to host before they sell them so I'm going to pick up the clowns and their home as a "package" and after 6 months or so I'll add a BTA.

I've checked out Reefcleaners and will definitly use them once I'm ready to expand the cleanup crew down the road.

Yeah, the only reason I went live sand as opposed to dry sand is because I'm doing all dry rock (don't want any critters) so it should help the tank cycle a little quicker.

Ahh Mantis shrimp, that's what it was, thanks for the info! Added a Pistol Shrimp to the list, thanks!

Yeah, the foxface is the one "must have" fish for me, my favorite personally, so that's the one fish I'm willing to "gamble" on and hope I get an angel of one haha. Planning on having a wide variety of algae and nori for him so it should keep his "taste testing" to a minimum. I'm also not planning on having many LPS / Softies in the tank which is what they're most prone to go after, from my research.

Good info, thanks! Was hard to find other people with a non-bowfront corner tank to give first hand accounts of stocking counts. Thanks for that info!

    Revised stocking list:

    Fish:
    2 clowns
    1 blue tang
    1 yellow tang
    1 foxface
1 diamond watchman goby & pistol shrimp
    5 blue chromis
    3 pajama cardinals

    Inverts / CUC:
    2 emerald crabs
    10 astrea snails
    5 trochus snails
    2 skarlet skunk shrimp
    5 scarlet hermits
    5 blue legged hermits

Also, any recommendations on HOBs for the 40b QT tank? I was looking at the following:

HOB Filter: Eheim Hang-on Filter Liberty 200
    Heater: HMO-200 Finnex Heater

Also got this e-mail, can't wait!
