Well maybe if you only kept the Blue Tang for a little while.

Good luck with the Foxface :)

Also, make sure the Chromis don't have back tips. They tend to be more aggressive ;)

Didn't know that. Thanks! Is it easily distinguishable when they are juveniles?

Good luck with the foxface. It was a must have for me as well but i wasnt lucky. I dont think mine is nipping at the corals but it gets so close they close up and it NEVER stops eating so it ends up irritating the crap out of them.

Yeah that was my debate at the very beginning, if I'm going to drop the dough into a tank which is more important, getting the fish around the coral I want or getting the coral around the fish I want. I decided on the latter.

I'm really hoping to get a well behaved foxface and luckily my LFS is very amicable in allowing me to trade out my foxface if it's getting too aggressive or destructive, so time will tell. My debate now is whether to start stocking a couple pieces of SPS frags after my tank cycles, then add the foxface, or to add the foxface before adding any coral...

I'm thinking to establish some SPS frags first that way he's used to them when I drop him in instead of them being added after he's adjusted to his home and thinking they're a new treat. :-/

Thanks for the first hand experience feedback tho, definitely something to take into consideration. Why do the awesome fish have to be so finicky with reef tanks?!?

So touching back to your previous post about flow in the tank. I'm thinking:

1x Koralia Magnum 8 - 3250GPH - on the front left corner aimed towards the back of the tank across the main rock / SPS area

2x Hydor Koralia Evolution 550GPH - One on the front right corner aimed towards the back across the rock / SPS area to add some variance in flow and one in the back of the rock aimed more towards the bottom of the rock / sandbed area to prevent deitrius buildup

That would bring my powerhead flow up to 4350 plus the flow from my returns. You think that would be enough or should I look into getting like 2x Koralia Magnum 7 - 2750GPH and 1x Hydor Koralia Evolution 550GPH instead (6050 GPH flow not counting returns)?

I saw your post saying how frustrating it is that some of our favorite fish don't always go with the corals we want to keep!! I am with you.....it is frustrating for sure but there are quite a few great fish that can coexist with coral. Wanted to comment that if your LFS keeps clowns as pairs and you can buy all together (hosting anemone and pair of mated clowns - that would be the ideal!) Alas, that also would mean waiting a while which is hard to do but you must get absolutely "excellent" at it - patience is not a virtue of mine and I've had to really learn that it is the only way to be successful in this hobby....take it slow is a common recommendation on here and it is correct.

I'm excited for you in getting all your "stuff", it's like Christmas, isn't it? 315 lbs. worth of stuff, WOW!

Haha yeah I know the feeling. I'm definitely an instant gratification person myself but tanking is my zen lol. They do sell them as a package so it'll be a good 6 months or so before I get the clowns if they only have ones with anemones. They do pretty regularly have pairs that host frogspawn so I'll pick them up sooner if they get any of those in.

Haha yeah I was a little shocked getting that email from ups. Isn't so bad being shipped in 7 separate packages though.

The latter might work, but IMO 1 big powerhead for the main flow and 2 smaller powerheads behind the rocks would be a bit more effective. Also, don't forget that you don't want a sandstorm in your tank from too much flow, so I'd make sure that the Evo 550's won't be too strong for the sand bed.
