you know I get the tank size information but I also know that many times some fish can grow very slowly and that tank sizes are usually indicative of what a fish needs when full grown. One can start with a juvenile of a type of fish that is not fast growing and give it a good life with the idea that once full grown or close, the fish will need to be rehomed. In the meantime, one can enjoy the fish, feed it well, etc.......I'm not implying that someone can keep a tang in a ten gallon but if one has 100 gallon+ tank, I wouldn't limit myself on fish selection based on the fish's full grown size if I purposely try to find a juvenile sized fish.

IMO if you get fish that will outgrow the tank, have somebody, LFS or not, to take them and give them a bigger/better home.

    How about this:

    100g

    2x Percula clowns
    1x Powder-brown tang
1x Watchmen (prawn) goby w/ 1x Pistol shrimp
    1x Angel
    7x Cardinals/Dartfish/Chromis
    2x Fire shrimp

Now thats a stock list ;)

Mature fish size is only one aspect of tank size recomendations.I guess it all boils down to what you consider a good life. Its bad enough we are confining them in the first place but to ignore tank size recoomendations is poor husbandry IMO.While it is possible to purchase small fish. I get extremely attached to my animals and buying one I know I can't care for is not fair to the animal IMO.Do you buy dogs with the pretense that you will send it to an orphanage when it outgrows your house??
Rehoming fish is not a simple affair for most people.

IME if you don't name them, it makes it slightly easier.

I was not inferring to ignore tank sizes and the comment about the dog is ridiculous.

In terms of the stock list, I think it sounds great!

Again, slightly too small for the tang, IMO. The only angelfish good for this size are a dwarfs, Genicanthus, and a few of the smallest "big" angelfish.
I like the cardianlfish school idea.
