Sounds like the time I tried a blue hippo tang in one of my tanks.. Lasted about 12 hours then became breakfast for my serpent star....

What kind of Red Sea Star do you have? May be a problem with the Jawfish being eaten. Some stars are piscivores and omnivorous to boot!
It could have found another place to hide?
Or died and is or has been eaten by your benthic area residents!
    Hope for the best!

no parameter spike, i know if he died i would never have seen him my nasurriss snails would have finished him off in no time at all. but i dont see any spots where he could be hiding. i am just hoping to see him sooner then later.

any star that gets big enough can and will eat fish.they hide in the top of caves and drop down on fish.jawfish like holes in rocks.it would'nt be hard to trap it in there.i'm really sorry if it got eaten.

I second that notion... maybe he found a "new home" that you can't see??? Lets hope!

Jawfish are notorious jumpers and aren't really suited to reef tanks (they are not "reef fish" in that they prefer open sandy areas near the reef as opposed to on/in the reef). Have you checked behind your tank for a dried up fish?
