I was going to set up a 50 breeder. Think the tank is 19 1/2 high, and it is 36 inches long. I really want MH, but I know they are hot. I thought if I could use two 100 watt MH's then it might be ok. But everywhere I look I only see 70/150/175/250 Anyone know if this would be possible?

I've never heard of 100s. I don't think they exist.
I'd go with a suspended 250 open top. That would help with heat.

Darn. I want to use two instead of one because the tanks center brace will interfere with a single bulb fixture. Hmm I wonder if the 50 breeder even has a center brace? If not the single 250 setup you suggested is sounding good. A little less wattage than 2x150, so there would also be less heat I would imagine.

Go with the (2) 150 watts.

2x150 sounds great for light coverage. A single 250 may leave the edges of the tank darker. I wonder what temps I can expect from 2x150?

Myabe Im wrong, but I dont see the hype about the temp. I have (2)-250w MH's and I recently had to buy a heater to keep my temp at 77-78. I dont use any surfaces fans, but I do keep my a/c at 73.

The tank is only 36 inches long so I doubt there will be many dark spots with a 250. Especially if mounted horizontally. IMO.

 Heater in Miami, I definitely think you A/C is too cold ;D. I only go down to 74 and thats at night and I am pretty cold at that temp.

I read you should use one bulb for each 24 inches. I figured 6 inches on each side may be dimmer, not dark. Actually I am optimistic about how a single 250 would look/work, and like the idea. As long as I can get a tank without a center brace.
