    Hi GaMmA!

I use a buffer by Seachem. I guess it works ok. my ph stays around 80 sometimes less.

Like you, everything looks great! (except for my open brain)

When I first got the tank in April I started out doing 2 changes per wk and then went to weekly for quite a while and only the last 2-3 wc have I gone 2 weeks. Changing out the sand bed will solve that problem. It never should have been reused. The previous owner kept meticulous records and did not have a problem with either of them and the experts as well as people who have experienced the same thing say its my sand bed. The sand was scouped out and dumped in a tub before moving the tank and then once it was set up at my home the sand in the tub was dumped in the tank and it just stirred up everything. I'm just waiting to get some help to break it down and replace the sand bed. I have to move it anyway so I will do it then.

JohnO , it was definately bubbles and not precipitate. I've also had the precipitate before, but since using Oceanic I have not needed to dose any calcium. If there was some precipitate it was very tiny. The tank was a little cloudy but then I did do a fairly large water change, but it was mostly bubbles.

    Cindy,

It was just a thought :)

    Have the bubbles now disappeared?

I appreciate the thought JohnO and it was a good one at that! ;)

Yes my bubbles are all gone now and the tank looks good. Once my skimmer kicked in good they gradually went away.

    No worries :)

The bubbles reducing when the skimmer started was what made me think it was calcium particles. No matter in any case as long as things are going well :)
