That's Awesome! At first I thought the Fuge was going to be under the tank in the widow of the stand. But I like it. Might have to steal this idea for a small frag tank.

I just stole the design from the myriad of all-in-one tanks currently on the market :)

This is going in my office, I will probably use the under stand area to house an ATO tank and/or supplies. At the moment I am working remotely most of the time so the design/stocking goal is low maintenance.

Started staining the stand today. Decided on sticking with the ebony stain for the stand but doing some of the trim in black, may wind up doing the canopy...thing in black too, the wood putty I went with isn't staining particularly well, hence the black trim.

Was planning on using a MJ1200 but the nearest place that has them for a reasonable price is 45mins and I already had the K1. I also have some of the livestock for this tank on the way, it will just live in the 20g long until it is finished cycling.
Not expecting a super long cycle, most of the rock is coming out of the display tank and I am going to establish it with water from the current system post water change.

Have 10 astrea snails, 10 cerith snails, 5 small BL hermits and a trio of sexy shrimp inbound. Still want to pick up a couple more misc inverts and macros(pair of porcelain crabs, shaving brush, short codium, halimeda scabra, possibly a fire shrimp). Started fraging a couple things in the main tanks so they will be nice and healthy once this is up and running :)

For fish, my selection has been narrowed down to one of the following:
    green clown goby+firefish goby+canary blenny
purple firefish+an oddball clown(pink skunk, naked false perc, sebae)
pearly jawfish+yellow watchman or high fin goby

Well, the freshwater test didn't work as planned. The K1 just didn't want to return water out of the chamber, which I had suspected might happen. Going to pick up a MJ1200 or something similar and hope for the best.

Swapped the pump out for a little 80gph aquaclear I had laying around. Toss in a quick trip to HD for ghetto bulkhead and presto, it works :D
Flow is mellow through the sump/fuge, should work nicely. Did a shakedown test with the K1 and AC filter running and it worked like a charm. Did end up rasing the overflow level about half an inch but otherwise the tank is officially good to go.
Got the first coat of poly on the stain and have decided to just paint the whole thing black. Semi-gloss or matte black will be much kinder to my(lack) of woodworking skills.

'Twas a good day, first coat of paint is on the stand/hood. After ditching the stain it has is now a satin black. May wind up hitting it with a second coat to be safe. Still need to figure out the ATO situation. I am 90% sure I am going to DIY it but I am still hunting for a float switch locally.
Anybody have a ballpark idea of what I should be planning for evaporation? I want to keep the container under the stand and had the idea of using a 2.5g tank. As this will be left unattended at times, I want a minimum of 7 days reserve.
