Trying to upgrade from my 75 gallon. I found a 110 wavefront on craigslist with tank(corner overflow) stand and canopy, sump and of lights for 800. Is this a good price and is their any cons of having a wave for a reef tank? Thanks

I think it is a 95 wave but no matter..... The downside is cleaning the bent glass... Razor blades nor magfloats can get in there. Its a PITA when coraline starts growing heavily.
Also lighting poses an issue at times.
What kind of lights are on the tank now?

I was wondering about the 110 because I can't compare prices on it because all I can find is 95. That's probally why I can't find a 110. I run LEDs on my 75 gallon right now.

The LEDs are going to go on the wave. But the price includes compacts

I went and picked up the tank and found out that it is a 90 surfside aquarium not a wavefront. So I will have to start my new 90 gallon tank build. If I swap the live rock and live stock but buy new sand and use most my water from my 75 will this send my tank into a cycle or do I reuse my old sand? Any ideas. Thanks

Anytime I have moved, combined or transferred tanks I have used all the rock, sand and most water. I use as much water as I can until it starts getting toward the sand bed. I then stir up the bed and get all the detritus into suspension. I then vacuum that out to start the sandbed off clean.
Essentially, add the sand, rock and as much old water you have. Make new water and float any livestock in bags in new tank until it is full and the critters have been acclimated.

Helps to have lots of buckets and 35 gal garbage cans around, oh yeah and towels!

    Good luck!

K++ Doc! That's exactly how I do it too.
I haven't seen the new tank you speak of but I know my friend has the wave and his glass is scratched like crazy... and he knows what he's doing. So it seems inevitable.
Good luck with your new tank!
