    Hello all,

I figured I would start my build thread on here.

I'm new to the saltwater tank world on my own but I have had some experience when I was younger with my fathers 125g tank.

My wife and I decided that we wanted to get a fish tank for our house. When we started we were just going to get a 55g tank off of my dad. I went to our LFS and found a really nice custom stand and canopy so we purchased that. Ended up purchasing it for a 90g tank. Went back the next week and found a 110g tank that fits the same stand so we are up to a 110g now.

We are still about 3 weeks out from getting our stand back from the manufacture.

    So far I have purchased:

    -Custom Stand & Canopy
    -250W Jager Heater
    -PhosBan Reactor
    -Coralife Digital Thermoter
-Instant Ocean Reef Master Test Kit
    -Refractometer
-69 GPH pump for PhosBan Reactor
    -(2) 750gph Koralia Evolution Pumps
    -(2) Marineland 400gph power heads
    -Marineland Wave Pump Timer
    -TDS Meter
    -Spectrapure RO/DI 90
    -29g DIY sump/refugium tank

We still have left to buy:

-110g Deep Blue Reef Ready Tank
    -(2) 24" Reefbreeders LED fixtures
    -90 lbs Dryrock
    -20 lbs liverock
    -100 lbs live sand
    -Sump Return Pump
    -Protein Skimmer

I have my sump/refugium built and here is a picture. Pretty easy process.

If anyone has any advise to offer please share:)

great start! i'll be following along, just two things... the pump you got for the GFO reactor might be too weak but try it out. I have one that's rated for 250 gph and it does a decent job, but its more about head pressure in this case. also, a 29 gallon sump will work but its sorta small for a tank that size. just be sure that when the power goes out that the 29 gallon can handle the residual water from the display that will siphon (probably several gallons). great buys though overall!

    Looks like a great start.

May I recommend a DC5000 for your return, I love mine.

I really wanted to make a bigger sump/refugium but unfortunately all the room I have is 48"x18". I don't have any other areas that I can store supplies in so I had to make the sump a bit smaller. I have approximately 6" of free space in the sump so that would hold almost 10 gallons of overflow water if something were to go wrong. That would allow my tank to drain about 2" without any overflow onto the floor. I'm going to plumb everything up high enough on the tank so no more then 2" can drain out of the tank.

    Hello all!

I received another shipment today. I bet our UPS driving is getting sick of us with all these orders...

I ordered 100 lbs of BRS reef saver rock and I received about 107 lbs.

I also got 100 lbs of live pink fiji sand, a BRS duel reactor, 1 lb of GFO and a half gallon of carbon.

I'm getting the itch to set this thing up but I still have to wait for my stand to get it. Hopefully we will get the stand within 3 weeks.

I pick up the 110g deep blue reef ready tank on Friday. Our LFS is having a huge sale and its 45% off ;D

Well I picked up my tank today at our LFS. They were having a huge sale.

I also picked up an eshopps psk-200 skimmer and a 160g bucket of reef crystals.

All said and done, I spent the same amount on all three items as just the tank was normally priced.

Awesome! I love my PSK-100 on my 55; I think the 200 will be great for you :)

I like the reviews that I have saw on the PSK-200. I built my sump/refugium based on another skimmer but found that it has horrible reviews. The PSK is a lot bigger so I had to take the refugium out of my sump:( Currently deciding on what to do to get the refugium back.

I've looked into the DC 5000 pump and really like it but don't know if i'm ready to spend that much on a return pump yet. Does anyone else have any suggestions? Also, how big of a pump do I need? I don't want to get something too big but I also want to have something big enough.
