    Has any body thought of or are using 12 volt bilge pumps that they use on boats?

    some of them are capable of pumping around 350 gph, do you think they may be suitable for smaller systems?

    the thing is the are only about £10 (~$20) where similar pumps designed for aquariums are about £80 (~$160) to us! (bet you can get pumps alot cheaper than i can!)

    can anybody see an inherant problem with using them?

    plus a good advantage is i could use it on a tranformer that i have for my led moonlight!

    I do not see a problem other than you will need a full wave bridge rectifier to convert the ac into dc for the pump. Make sure the transformer will be able to handle the current load of the pump. {Read the nameplate rating of the pump.}
