Alright.. Time to start thinking about something else, while i work my ass off to finish the "tank-Room"!

    Rocks....

I'm somewhat in trouble here as I REALLY don't want any pests (anemone's, odd plants, whatever..) but at the same time I do want the positive surprises (limpets, spaghetti worms, pods, whatever else may pop up)

I was thinking 75 % Dry rock (reefrocks.net, BRS or Marcorocks) and 25% cured live-rock (LFS)

    Suggestions?

Tank room sounds awesome! Make sure take a bunch of before and after pics if you can.

You are right on track about rocks. Thats exactly what I would do and I know a lot of people agree with me too :)

Or you could go like 90% dry and 10% live? I used Microbactor 7 to boost the bacterial growth and Ive had good experiences in the past.

Most of the goodies are finally in. Time to really get going on this!

I just figured out where the tank will go, tomorrow I'll be drilling the tank & gluing the baffles in the sump. Hopefully we can get all the mudding/room construction out of the way this week, then we can start painting and really move forward.

    Tank location plan:

Stand will be 40 inches tall. canopy will be approximately 12 or 13 inches high.

All plumbing/sump stuff will go through the wall into the closet behind it. Unfortunately not enough space to build the tank in the wall, but plenty for the sump

So as planned, I got to drill my tank this weekend.

Nerve-wrecking as always, but I think I managed just fine!

I had purchased the tanks a few weeks ago, here's a picture of the 120 & the 40 breeder
    [IMG]

First I taped off the area where the "c2c/beananimal" overflow box was going to be, so I could make a good determination where I was going to drill the holes
    [IMG]

took a while, and a few re-charges of the drill's batteries (dreadful!).. 1-hole left:

    All holes drilled:

I then started on the C2C overflow box, figuring I should get all this "tank-work:" out of the way.. I'm still working on the construction of the room the tank will be in, but I really don't like having panes of glass laying in the house.. Plus.. it's hard to stop once you get going :)

First bits of glass for the overflow box: (the final piece just lays in top to make sure the other pieces dry in the right angle/location)

    Final piece also in place:

    Bulkheads & attachments installed:

    also baffled my sump:

as usual, after you finish doing these things you realize you could/should have done things slightly different, but altogether, I'm happy with the outcome :)

Glad to have this part over with.. Also, my lights and some other goodies should be arriving in the mail today! that'll complete the equipment list.. unfortunately I can't move faster than the time it takes me to finish that room first..

and I have to build a stand still as well.. I do believe I can have some water in the setup by March 1st..
