I used to have a Majestic Angel because it was described as mostly reef safe. It didn't touch some corals...toadstool & zoas come to mind. Others, especially LPS and clams, it devoured. Mine also loved to eat mushrooms. It picked at SPS too. I traded it back to the LFS after 3 years.

I doubt I'll try to mix angels and corals again.

My best advice is to go reef. Big fish mean a big mess! Nitrates are a constant struggle. I have an Asphur angel and a lemonpeel angel. The lemonpeel is smaller and the Asphur is a mid sized angel. For the most part they have been good. Look at my signature and see all the fish I have. I've had very little problems with compatability but I've tried to follow things by the book. The combined beauty of fish and coral on live rock is stunning. Just be careful not to overload. I have a gigantic toadstoll leather that is breathtaking but also consuming the tank. My mushrooms are all over same with star polups and colt coral is propagating everywhere. It doesn't take long. Fish like the purple tang and African hippo have doubled in size. I will say that I am so happy I have the four shrimp that I started with because I haven't seen ich or parasites last more than a day on any of my fish. It's an ecosystem that we get to bring to life in our home. It just doesn't get any better than that.;)

I am of the same opinion... don't mix triggers or puffers with a reef tank.... they will definitely destroy it. And the corals are just too expensive to take that risk. Check out the link from RedGambit. And do your research! You can find many websites that sell fish and give you a precise description of the needs of the fish.
Good luck and keep us posted!!!

Reef...all the way. but that is me. I have wrasses, Clowns, Gobies, and tang. Just depends on what you want. I think the look of healthy reef setup and the right color fish against the backdrop is what it is all about.

Good luck, and post some pics after you make the decision.
