    every thing is hard piped.
    yes bottom and sides are the same thickness. but not now they wont be, i ordered 1/2" this time.
    the only reason im doing it myself is i did glass work for 10 years so im pretty comfey doing it myself, i think?

    Reinforcement doesn't have to be glass (no one looks at the bottom of your tank)

    true, this time im going to put cutting board down incase some of my rock ever fall, thats not what caused this problem but just for ----- and giggles.

    i use egg crate and it works well. its nice because the rocks kinda lock in place in the squares of the eggcrate. just something to think about.

    Drilled tanks are not tempered at the bottom. So, what they will do is go thicker to gain strength.

    Sorry the hear my friend.. That was the main reason I used flexible PVC in my new 90gal setup. There is a lot of play if I need it, plus mine is plumbed through the floor. Food for thought. :)

    Yeah that silicone is a pain.. One thing to consider, since you are going thicker you are going to need to trim your overflow box at the bottom. If not it will either not fit, crack the new pane, or damage the overflow box when pressure is added.

    Incorrect. I am in the process of cleaning a drilled 75 that has a sticker saying the glass is tempered. You can temper glass after drilling holes in it.
