120G lighting setup questions...

    Hey guys, I'm setting up a new 120G tank and would like your thoughts on my current lighting setup, if it'll be enough.

    Currently I have 2x175w IceCap single ended MH with 4xT12 48" Actinic/IceCap setup . I also have an AquaMedic dual 150w HQI ballast.

    My two biggest questions are:

    1) Would it be ok to run two of the T12s parallel in the same reflector as the 175w MH?

    2) The guy I bought the dual 150w aqua medic ballast from was strangely enough using it to power two 250w HQI bulbs. I know thats not recommended, but is it possible or ok to run like that for now? I plugged them up and they do run fine, or so its seems.

    1: Will work, but the heat will greatly shorten the life of the t5 bulbs.

    2: Also will work, but can cause ballast issues. Personally, I wouldn't chance it.
