All make up water for your whole system ran through it? Then I should be fine doing so as well... Yes, I'm interested.

So, Alk and Ca show a response to the increase in flow through the reactor. PO4 is 0.0.

pH is still lower than I'd care for.

is that magnesium of 925 an error on the data?
as that seems incredibly low to me, as it should be at least 3 x your calc level

Hum, that's a rule of thumb I'd heard before...and forgotten...

I only ran the test one time yesterday...so, no cross check. However, the trend for Mg has been downward, (the chems in the test kit could be going bad).

When I refilled the Ca Reactor I purchased the ARM media with Mg, expecting to see the trend stop...but that was 6 weeks ago....And yet, the trend has continued.

But since you bring to question the results, I'll run a test using the Mg standard to check the test kit...then run another check....the test kit is a year old...

But, because of the trend....now I'm dosing with BRS recipe 2 for Mg and will continue to do so until I'm back above 1200 ppm. I'm dosing 100 ml, 3Xs/day...at this rate it should take 6-7 days to get to 1200...

Well, the Mg test kit was near it's end... So, I opened a new Salfiert kit and ran a couple of test... Mg is actually ~1350, much better number...

So, alk-Ca-Mg have a nice balance, yet pH is low...

Only time I shut it off was when I turned the pump on to mix then I left it off for about 2hrs after that to allow time for paste to settle.

    Update:

Added the GFO, shifted to feeding every other day, and last evening we could note a moderate decrease in the amount of "brown" algae covering the rocks... However we are noticing that the Lawnmower Blinny has developed a sunken tommy, clearly needs to get more to eat...

I should add, that the cheto is also turning brown and dying back...GFO is a powerful tool in the fight against macro algae...both that which you don't want and that which is beneficial.

Well, in a month of feeding every other day, I've noticed that all fire fish and the lawn mower have developed sunken bellies... Today the power blue tank is very, very, lathargic... we captured it, placed it in a breeder net with a bit of seweed cliped to a rock... we'll see if he lives...

It is time to go back to daily feedings!
