ditto! well said, go slow and make sure you will like where it's going to be. I'd leave it there for a few days to see if that would be the right place before you put anything in it......can't wait to see what you decide and pics!

I like it the way it is, looks cool! How would you go about finishing the back though. Looks awesome though!

Do you own a horse to go with that saddle? What kind

    Thanks

    What wonderful feedback...

Otty, I am concerned with the light from the windows, it was the reason we did not set the 75g up this way. We did find the 75g algae on the glass to be manageable, by cleaning every 2 or 3 days. So...maybe it won't be unmanageable...and this tank is getting a phosphate reactor... :-/

Bogie, We are going to take it slow... It is undrilled... our plan is to leave it in place for a couple of weeks and "live around it." I expect that it will get moved a bit before it finds it final home. :-/ This is important as it will give me time to determine where I cut the hole through the wall as all of the support equipment is being setup on the other side.

:help: As for the cabinets, the kitchen wood work is all maple... we are considering weather to have the top cabinet go all the way to the ceiling with glass doors/shelves (dishes) :), have a hood to cover the lights & plumbing , or just the light (as we did with the 75g) :p My brother built the cabinets and is available should we decide to match them...

    We like the peninsula style....

Plans for this week: get the power and water pulled out to the equipment room, get a damsel for the live rock curing tank....

    Um, newbie question here!

We have a 125 and a 55 we hope to set up soon. Right now we only have a 10g nano reef tank. I liked the peninsula idea, but haven't any quality woodworking experience and only simple tools. It seems that there must sometimes be folks wanting to cover the back side of a stand and canopy??

As is, I was going to ask if anyone knew of a website with affordable prices so we could get canopies for the tanks. But now I'd add the question of prefab tank backing...

    Thanks!

scubafan, while I have the advantage of a brother who is a cabinet maker, the technique that he is planning to use is to "re-face" the box. This processes is something that many cabinet makers are familiar with and it is not very expensive to bring them in to do it. So if you have a cabinet under the 125g now, give a couple of them a call, most quotes are free....

    Seeds of Change

    Hello,

All of the live rock has been cleaned. And now to get it going while we mess with the setup of the new tank...

We pulled together some "left over" pieces and set up a 30g tank with a 20g sump. All but one piece of the cleaned-LR fit in the two tanks. You can't see them but there is a pair of damsels hiding somewhere in the LR. In the sump is also 10 lbs of new sand/agate. I will soon have a coil denitrator and will set it up here as well.

In a few months, when we are ready, we should have some good live rock and sand to seed the 125g with.

And in the mean time we can play hide and seek with the damsels.... :curtain:

    (Edit: fixed the link)

Try the link now, I pasted it back in again... That is actually a snail that I found climbing out of the mud in the old sump....

The blue damsel can be seen in the "cave"....

Note: Yesterday we added the phosphate reactor that you see in the above photo. The bottom 1/3 is filled with carbon, then a filter pad, then the phosban... This evening my wife comments how much clear the water looks.

We set this system up on Sunday with 35 g of RO/DI, mixed with the Kent sea salt, running through a filter sock, with a skimmer.... That carbon must be doing something....
