Just setup my new to me 125, so I am looking to get a good idea of the final stock list now while it is empty. This will be a mixed reef tank. Here is what I am thinking:

    Already have:

    Midas Blenny
Lubbock's Fairy Wrasse (M&F) (may donate female or even both to a close friend)
    Hooded Fairy Wrasse
    Labout's Fairy Wrasse
    Flame Angel

    "Definite" future adds:

    Flame Wrasse
    Lineatus Wrasse
    Occy Clowns (M&F)
    Kole Tang

And then thinking about 1 or 2 of the following:

    Foxface (Magnificent or One Spot)
Powder Brown Tang (borderline on this one, have read very conflicting info on aggressiveness and also how susceptible to Ich they are)
Genicanthus angel (maybe either Lamarck's or Watanabei)
Trio of smaller Anthias (maybe Disbar, Bartlett's or Carberryi)

Thoughts? Really looking for what the best option(s) would be of the last I listed.

    TIA

Well, a trio of anthais would really look nice with all the fairy wrasse (I'd recommend 1-2 flashers and a female Lineatus, flame, or hooded fairy wrasse)
IMO anthias, my second choice (Close one) is a Genicanthus angel, which could easily be a showcase fish as an adult.

I'd go with the angel. With the wrasses and anthias, there won't be a lot of variety in shape, definitely in color but I like a combination of fish size and shape. Just my .02.

oh, and watching a fish become more beautiful the longer you have it...nice

I agree on the anthias; I just don't have any experience with them. I have read plenty on how difficult they can be to acclimate, and then having to feed them multiple times during the day, which could be a problem. So looking for people who have kept them successfully.

Agreed, which is why I am strongly considering a Foxface. Genicanthus Angel is the other obviously; they obviously aren't the most colorful though.

I think the anthias are a good move- just get high quality stock and you are good to go. I have had a pair for about 2 years now

What pair? And I thought you were supposed to have at least 2 females with 1 male?

I love my Genicanthusses. A few pointers are let the fish sit at the store for a bit to check for any swimming issues. Sometimes they will appear as though they have swim issues but are instead in too much flow. Also make sure it eats. I've found these fish to be some of the most curious I've owned and mine were out within 30 minutes of acclimation. My Watanabei always follows me around the room and constantly begs for food while the Semifasciatus are too interested in each other and my ember blenny to honestly care. Awesome fish if you get the right specimen.

Awesome, thanks for the info! If I did get one, I was leaning towards a Watanabei anyways.

Would both a Watanabei and a Foxface work? They would obviously be the largest fish, and are both peaceful from what I know. And if so, anyone with experience with a Magnificent? Supposed to be peaceful, but can be with more aggressive fish, so I think that would work in my tank.

I would try to get a bigger Watanabei and let it establish itself for a month. They can sometimes be shy around new and bigger fish.

Honestly I've never liked the regular foxfaces, I had a spotted foxface and it was super shy and ate my expensive rasta zoas and some of my LPS. Needless to say I traded it to another hobbyist for more coral.

Good stuff. Obviously Foxfaces are reef safe with caution, but I have not heard many negatives about them nipping/eating corals. Obviously if others have experienced this, please chime in! Otherwise I do like the Magnificent as mentioned, vs. the Lo or One Spot.
