So, I finished up some other honey-dos and other projects (my car) and got around to looking at my reef wall project again. One of the concerns I have had with the design is the loss of tank volume due to the size of the foam. I can't make the wall much thinner, as it needs some structure or it will fall apart. It will only take me a few hours of work to finish it. The time consuming part will be washing to get the pH to settle, which could take a few months.

After looking at some great tanks on reefbuilders and here, I am considering going full circle back to just a pile of rocks on top of sand and just paint the back of the tank black. If I did this, I could literally move the tank into the house (in my garage now) and start putting water in the tank this weekend.

Someone help me make this decision, please. :-(

I'm sure you've put a lot of time and effort into the foam wall but in my option I would just paint and do a nice scape.

It has been a while since I have posted. I have been distracted with kids, job, and other projects. I finally got the tank inside and worked on the replacement tank supports. Next up, I am putting in the coral rockscape for final curing for a few weeks to see if the pH is settled for good.

Here are pics of my rock formations. I still need to cure the rocks in the tank for a few weeks. Then drain and fill with salt water.

I have about 75lbs more rock to add later to finish the scape.

    Thank you!

I got the skimmer in and most of the plumbing wrapped up. Still need to organize the wires, buy a fuge light, and figure out if I can should buy cheap timers or try to slip an Apex in without the boss finding out. I still don't have display lights either... Probably go with AI vega. $$$$ sigh.

Well, I guess I waited to long to set this tank up. It must be cursed. I was laid off from my IT job on Monday. I am going to start selling everything now. got to make sure i can feed my family. I put some of it on Craigslist already. I suppose I will post here in the classifieds too.
