I would go to home Depot/Lowe's and get some play sand, you can find a number of brands that are safe to use by doing a little research online. Then use your current live sand to seed it. Depending on how old your current sand bed is you can turn up some nasty stuff when you starting digging down to the bottom of that. A 50lb bag of play sand will usually run 12 bucks or so last i checked.

ok, um well the sand bed is really old like 2 years, but when i bought it i took the sand out and sifted through the whole thing, and that was in janurary (SP?) and i have stirred is many times by either rough powerheads or over pouring water. so i would say its pretty new all of it looks perfectly white

ok so i filled all the holes that were naturally in the wood. and the holes made by screws and nails.
then i sanded everything so it was nice and smooth. and then i put 2 1/4 round peices of molding on the top and the bottom of the stand to make a nice looking molding. unfortunatly painting has to wait another day : /
    pics coming soon.
