A blueline 55 HD is a bit on the low side compared to an iwaki 70 RLT but it has the right head pressure.
The blueline 70 HD is more powerful but would be on par to the 100 RLT.

If you dont want another external pump grab a mag 24 like i am for my downdraft skimmer and you will be good. Yes it will add a small amount of heat to your system but it wont hum like a external. Check my build thread for my skimmer. :)

That's what I was talking about.... there are a lot of things you can do to cut power and accomplish the same thing. Obviously if that is of no concern, then who cares, but $100 a month in power... I don't really care about "green", but I do think conservation of resources is important.

My only question is if this is green... then what would it look like if you didn't care about watts.

As far as throttling a pump, it is of no concern to the pump... unless you dead head it.. then it can overheat. But throttling is no big deal... no difference than putting head pressure on it. Also... watts consumed is water moved... less moved, less watts consumed... moving only what you need to saves energy.

Thank You Powerman, i just redid my sump and had it set up for another type skimmer so i will look into the mag 24 watts against 70RLT & 100RLT don't believe i will need to worry about pump heat with my system also no chiller got to save those watts::)
