How is the purple Stylo doing for you? The Duncan looks very nice under the blue.

I would say good. It is always very "fuzzy" with polyp extension. I'm not sure how it's supposed to color up, but the new growth tips are very white and the polyps coming out are almost translucent. They then get color to them as "new" growth becomes "old" growth. Under my lights, the flesh seems to be a brownish color with the tips of the polyps a bright purple. Because of the extensive PE, you don't get the bright purple look to it, but I like how fuzzy it is. ;D It is not growing overly fast, but two of the branches have split and are starting in new directions.

The duncan is doing well, but I'm afraid it's about to have a show down with a hairy shroom. I have the duncan in the perfect spot and don't want to move it. It's growing very well with many new heads. However, I put a hairy shroom on a rock that is about 3-4" away. I placed it up on the rock, but it has steadily worked it's way down to the point where the Duncan polyps and the shroom are almost touching when they're both inflated/extended. I tried moving the shroom, but it's solidly attached. The rock is at the bottom of my rock work and is epoxied to the rest of it, so it's not going anywhere either. Will have to see who wins this battle I guess, or will have to find the Duncan a new home if it loses. :)

The prominent white tips is one of the characteristics of the Purple Stylophora that I like. If you look at established colonies they always have the ball shape cluster form and those white tips.

I think the Duncan will loose. Mine does not like any direct contact with any other coral in the tank be is soft, or stony or mushrooms and zoanthids. It will not expend as it normally does. They seem to be extremely hardy corals while at the same time sensitive.

That's what I was afraid of. I slid the Duncan out another 1" or so, but don't want to get it any closer to the glass. I guess I might have to figure out how to frag it and keep that side trimmed. :)

    As requested...

Shots of the tank and some new additions.

Tried to get an "Alcove of Terror" vibe going with the fungia at the end of that "trench". ;D
