Looks very nice! That has the room to be a spectacular tank, not that it isn't already :) I really like the blue back too!

Thank you. We'll have to see if I can get it there. :) Definitely need to get more coral coming to fill it in.

I was wondering, how high is the highest spot from the bottom?

The highest point in the center of the rock work is about 14" tall and about 8" down from the water surface. The "ridge" that runs out from the center of the main rock work towards the front of the tank is about 16" long.

I like the scape a lot, tank gives you plenty of room for it too! Nice...

Ich has taken over. Time to QT everything.

A few weeks ago I brought home a hippo tang from the LFS that previously had Ich. I put him in a poor attempt at a QT for a couple of days and didn't see any spots. However, due to some work related travel, I decided to gamble and move it into the DT because I was worried it would die while I was traveling.

Ironically, I'll be lucky if that's the only fish I lose. The hippo has gone through two life cycles of the ich and is now covered. The Kole tang is also covered and is getting dangerously thin. The orchid dottyback is covered and the chalk bass and firefish are constantly flashing and rubbing against the substrate.

So, got a couple of big WalMart totes tonight along with some heaters and HOB filters. Tomorrow, I pull out every fish and hope it doesn't take removing every last rock. The dottyback and firefish can get in very small crevices, and I'm doubtful I can get them without removing everything.

8-10 weeks of hyposalinity and no fish in the DT to get rid of the ich.

    Sad part is...

    I knew better.

All reefers have made similar mistakes at some point. At least you are doing the right thing and doing the best you can to ensure the health of all of your stock. I would add some kind of nitrifying bacteria (I use Niteout IIRC) and/or an ammonia detoxifier such as Amquel (or at least have it on hand and monitor). Just keep in mind ammonia detoxifiers will reduce dissolved oxygen, but the HOB filters should provide plenty of surface agitation. Good luck!
