It's officially a reef tank! Well, it officially has a coral in it anyways. ;D

The images are poor, but here it is. I think it's the Dragon Eye zoas. Fluorescent green center with a greenish/gold tentacle. Three small polyps on a frag plug for now, but seems to be opening well. Will continue to dial things in before adding anymore. CUC and macro algae for the refugium next. At least there's a reason to have the lights on. :)

Also added a Pajama Cardinal pair. They're about 2" long right now. Surprisingly, one has taken over the tank and tends to push the other around during the light cycle. Hopefully, that doesn't stress the one out too bad. They are certainly more active at night with the moon lights on.

Added a 2x 1,600 gph JBJ Oceanstream Wavemaker kit tonight to replace the 2x 1,650 gph Aqueons. So far, so good. Much quieter and MUCH gentler circulation. Plus, no worries about the Aqueon suction cup breaking loose. The Aqueons had a very focused stream and even though they were opposite each other, they created a really strong down current that would wash away the gravel in one spot. These look like they move just as much water, but the gravel doesn't seem to move at all. Will see how it looks in a couple days.

The zoas seemed to like it and stayed fully open even though I increased the tank circulation from 5x up to 25x (only had a Koralia 750 running).

It's been a while since I've updated, but just picked up a new camera and had to test it out.

I've picked up a few adds and have decided to start everything as a frag and grow it out. I figure it'll be looking nice in a year or two. :)

Still struggling with nitrates (10-20 ppm range), but have my skimmer working better and starting to hit the WC more frequently. Also, have chaeto and gracillaria in the refugium. They seem to be growing nicely, but aren't making a huge dent in the nitrates.

The JBJ's have been going about a month, and I'm ordering another set. The flow is very wide and gentle. I plan to have one set on a 90 sec cycle and the other set on a shorter 20-30 sec cycle. It should make some good, random motion.

First pic is a Dragon Eye zoa. Any idea on the green "stalks" growing out of the rock around it? Seems to be some kind of algae.

Second pic - unknown paly or zoa

Third pic - Bam Bam zoas

    Fourth pic - Glove polyps

First pic - green nepthea. Will it encrust over the super glue and form a wider base or should I build a base up to it with epoxy/putty? Everytime I look at it, I think it's going to tip over. :)

Second pic - Fire and Ice zoas. Just moved into the tank today, and not too happy about it yet.

    Third pic - FTS

    Coming along nicely.

The nepthea will eventually grow over the glue, so its up to you. If you do want to move it, now would be the easiest time to do so.
