    Welcome back ,

Some veterans bear visible signs of their service: a missing limb, a Jagged scar, a certain look in the eye.

Others may carry the evidence inside them: a pin holding a bone together, A piece of shrapnel in the leg or perhaps another sort of inner steel: The soul's ally forged in the refinery of adversity.

Except in parades, however, the men and women who have kept America safe Wear no badge or emblem. You can't tell a vet just by looking.

    What is a vet?

He is the cop on the beat who spent six months in Saudi Arabia sweating two gallons a day making sure the armored personnel carriers didn't run out of fuel.

He is the barroom loudmouth, dumber than five wooden planks, whose overgrown frat-boy behavior is outweighed a hundred times in the cosmic scales by four hours of exquisite bravery near the 38th parallel.

She or he is the nurse who fought against futility and went to sleep sobbing every night for two solid years in Danang.

He is the POW who went away one person and came back another or didn't come back AT ALL.

He is the Quantico drill instructor who has never seen combat but has saved countless lives by turning slouchy, no-account rednecks and gang members into Marines, and teaching them to watch each other's backs.

He is the parade riding Legionnaire who pins on his ribbons and medals with a prosthetic hand.

He is the career quartermaster who watches the ribbons and medals pass him by.

He is the three anonymous heroes in The Tomb Of The Unknowns, whose presence at the Arlington National Cemetery must forever preserve the memory of all the anonymous heroes whose valor remains unrecognized with them on the battlefield or in the ocean's sunless deep.

He is the old guy bagging groceries at the supermarket, aggravatingly slow, who helped liberate a Nazi death camp and who wishes all day long that his wife were still alive to hold him when the nightmares come.

He is an ordinary and yet an extraordinary human being a person who offered some of his life's most vital years in the service of his country, and who sacrificed his ambitions so others would not have to sacrifice theirs.

He is a Soldier, Marine, Sailor or Airman, and also a savior and a sword against the darkness, and he is nothing more than the finest, greatest testimony on behalf of the finest, greatest nation ever known.

So remember each time you see someone who has served our country. When you see one just lean over and say Thank You.

That's all most people need, and in most cases it will mean more than any medals they could have been awarded or were awarded.

Two little words that mean a lot, "THANK YOU".

    God Bless Our Veterans

I really appreciate the excellent English being written. I am fluent in German, and was a foreign exchange student in HS but my typed German would not be like your typed English. I also appreciate the translation from cm to inches and gallons instead of liters;)

Are you by chance an American living in Germany?

Yes I am AF and my first name is George. I am assuming since you know my first name that your son works with me some how or another. What's your son's name? You can PM me if you want.

Yes I am a GI. An American USAF member, I have lived in Germany for quite a bit though. I grew up around Wiesbaden. I can't write German at all. It confuses me to write it because of the differences in deivery from English and German. I can read some and speak a bit. Since I have been back I have started speaking "Village German" which is bad apparently. Especially if you don't know another word for some things.

As far as being back in the swing of things I am still here in the Hot Iraqi heat. As stated before I will find a few pics when I get the chance and post them.

I need help as I am having a problem with the tank. Corals are not growing the way that they were in the small tank. I need to dose the tank because I don't do anywhere as many water changes as I used to do with the Nano. It is just not cost effective. I run a skimmer so I know that the water is being depleted of the good nutrients. I just don't know what exactly to add and do not have the time to research right now. I did buy some blackpowder for the wife to try and dose but am a little skeptical with that. Any info is appreciated.

Oh thanks for the kind words newton.........

Well here is the tank! I started it with a tank that I tore down. It belonged to a friend of mine that was getting ready to go back to the States. He gave me a hell of a deal. Everything here has been in his tank for about a year. I used all of his water and added let's say 100 gallons to fill it the rest of the way. The lights above it are 65 watt bulbs that were lying around. They were just to see what everything was going to look like.

Here are a few pics of my previous tank. I had to move it to the basement and didn't care about what it looked like when it came to glass cleanliness. I was worried about the water quality and that was about it. As you can see it was kicking butt.
