I have a 150 and a 4x39W over it. Can you say dark. It has a very hard time illuminating the bottom of the tank, let alone support an anemone. I would say either an 6x72" t5ho or 3x150 MH at a minimum. And you had better have good reflectors. That tank is DEEP.

Also something to consider. Multiple 36" units may seam like a good deal, but eventually, the longer bulbs will be much cheaper.

Everything else seems to be covered sufficiently.

I recently went from T5's to halides, and its sooooo much better. Three 250w halides should light up that tank really nice, and if you put a 400w in the middle (instead of a third 250) you could keep more light demanding stuff lower in your tank. Pass on that skimmer if possible, I had the smaller one and it was garbage. Definitely look for a bigger return pump, and what are you doing for flow in the tank? What size sump did you get?

hey cant wait to see the final product its going to be a beast.
    things i would ditch:
    -bio balls.
    -skimmer.
    -backup bat.
    -lights.
    -"live sand".

    things i would replace with:
-fuge or LR area (in place of bio balls).
-PM, Octopus. plenty of skimmers out there.
-save some $$ and hold off on back up power for now and get some water flow.
-MH or hybrid MH/T5. 29in is very deep for T5s.
-save $, just buy 1 bag of live sand and the rest dry sand. pour live sand on top of dry.

    to think about:
    -supplements?
    -reactors? GFO,Carbon...

its easy for me when its not my money :p but as we will all agree upgrading is a disease in this hobby so best to save and do it now.

GL!! and post pics as you build!!

Hmm, should have posed this question earlier. Most of the equipment listed is already in my house waiting for the tank and stand to arrive. I might be able to make a couple of adjustments, but for the most part I'm setting up with what is listed. I am thinking that as I get my tank cycled and see what it is a really want to keep, I can add MH lighting to what I have already, or just take those out and sell/trade them for something else. The sump is a pre-configured unit, and I know I don't want to go the refugium route. I'll see how this works and then go from there. I mainly got the back up battery for peace of mind just in case we get a brief power outage. I won't hook up anything but the sump pump and skimmer to that, so it will keep the water circulating for enough time for the power to come back on. We don't have many outages and they are usually very brief. I am planning on getting some water moving equipment to place in the tank once it gets set up. I don't think that just the 900 gph pump will be sufficient with such a deep tank. As to the depth/width, I would have liked to have gone wider and less deep, but the space I have for the tank wouldn't allow for anything beyond 18". I will have to be creative with my aquascaping. Thanks again for all of the input. It certainly gives me more to think about. I just thought I had this planned out well.

with two 36" lights over a 72" tank you won't have any room to add halides
