    local reefer is selling a 150w HQI pendant with a brand new 14k pheonix bulb for 100 bucks. would it be ok for my 40 breeder or too much?

    there are 2 available that he would sell for 150 together. do i need both? im also worried about heat. will that be an issue?

    Most MH pendants are only good for 24" of tank.... So yes, you would need both.

    I ran 2 175W halides over my 45G. Had no heat issues. Just make sure to have a good fan cooling the pendants.
