I ordered both a 150 watt and 250watt jbj deluxe lighting system. I have a 23 gallon tall nd i was wondering if the 150watt would be bettr than my t5's tht have about 4 watts per gallon. I pretty sure the 250watt is better but its a little more in cost, i ordered both on mistake but i was wondering if i should return the 250watt and keep the 150watt, beacause it is cheaper. Also wht difference would the 250watt make compared to the 150watt because ive heard the 250watt has much more depth penetration than 150 or 175watt Metal Halides.

Also my Frogspawn wont grow for some reason is it the light to do with it bc i feed my corals and dose calcium and other elements. Also my other lps coral(duncan) is growing real well.

Btw i kept a sps coral and it slowly died within a few weeks and i couldnt keep it high enough in the tank bc my rock structure isnt very high, and if i get the MH will it survive at a medium low level in the tank where i had it before. Or do i have to put iodine in the tank or something?

My current setup is a 23 gallon tall"20in", 96 watts of t5 lighting, lps and soft corals, and a few fish.

The T5HO is much better than the 150W for light penetration and a little better then a 250W fixture.

You can grow SPS with a 150W in anything shallower than 22". Of course.... it all depends on your rockwork as well.

In that case your T5 isn't that good. You need individual reflectors to get the best output.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
You do not have to dose with iodine and in my opinion it has a much greater potential to do harm than any good it could do.

I agree with Corailline, most salts have iodide in them any way.

I don't really agree, usually it's the other way around, but there are many things to take into consideration. As for your issue, I would keep the 150w, that should be fine for you sized tank. However, 250w have much more PAR values, but will produce much more heat, so if you're worried about heat, then I would stick with the 150w.
