I have a 55 gallon and I want to upgrade and I found a nice 155 gallon long tank for a great deal. Its long so would this be okay for my powder brown tang? Anyone have a 155 gallon long tank? I can't seem to even find any information on the long ones..

I have a 150 and my tangs have plenty of room. Tangy will be thrilled in his new home I am sure.

I found an aquarium listed as a 150 long that measures 60" x 24" x 25" tall. I calculated 155.8 gallons even though it was listed as a 150. I guess it might depend if you're using the inside or outside dimensions if you want the exact volume of water.

This is where I found the size:

That's what I got with the formula also.

powder browns are aggressive and active. Definitely do best in a bigger tank if possible. 6' length is usually the normal recommendation. Of course, sometimes you can get away with sorter, there are no hard set rules, but I'll say your much better off if it is 6', smaller tanks, they are more likely to become destructive. By nature they are bullies, no matte what, but it may be worse in a smaller tank.

Thanks guy for the website! It's very helpful. I just can't seem to find a deal that is close enough where I'm not driving 3 hours away to get it and trying to find 3 or more friends to help... its frustrating. I found 125 gallon long ones but i want one bigger than that...

The 150s I've seen are like high 125s. They have a 72"x18" footprint and go to 28" high instead of 22"

Frankly, though, if you're going to go up to something the size of a 150, go to a 180 instead. They are 24" front to back and that extra 6" makes aquascaping far easier and more attractive. Not to mention that they are more common so easier to find used. Additionally, you will need essentially the same equipment for a 150 that you'd need for a 180. I'd bet that a used 180 will be about the same price as a used 150 so why not go for the extra size?

I'll never go down to an 18" wide tank again unless for some strange reason the space it needs to go into dictates it.

EDIT: There's a 180g tank only in Cincy on CL - no overflow, but you can drill a 180 and put one in easily.

The only one I seen was for 1K and I don't want to pay 1K for a tank.... do you have the link?

Like i said earlier the other issue is finding help. I have a truck and trailer so thats not the issue. Its I don't have anyone who can help me.. I'd literally have to hire a few people to load and unload it.. I've already talked to a moving company for a 300 gallon tank I wanted but I can't afford to go that route.
