Well, I started this build in July 09, that is when I bought the tank. http://www.nisso-int.co.jp/ I slowly accumulated the rest of the equipment. I found this tank but wasn't in a hurry to build it up as I was pretty new to the hobby... It was a really good deal at the LFS here in Japan though. I had wanted to build my own sump/filter as I did, slowwwwly... The almost finished product was not satisfactory, so I went with the magnivore Magnavore Algae Cleaners you will see in the pictures... I believe it has an 18 gallon capacity. I have an ehiem 1260 Eheim GmbH & Co. KG | EHEIM universal pump (GB) and the red sea c-skim 1200...RedSeaFish which is apparently out of date since there isn't an ad for it now that i can find, just the 1800. for lights, I have the aquatic life 36" AquaticLife LLC | Premium Marine Aquarium Products. I will use an ATO that I got from aquahub.com Top-it-Off Kit Deluxe. I will tie it all together with the aqua controller Jr. from Neptune. Neptune Systems - AquaControllers - AquaController Jr

I have been plumbing it for a day or two now...been a pain changing as I go... matching sizes from one piece of equipment to another but the system seems it will be pretty simple... I picked up a used chiller http://www.iwakipumps.jp/rei-sea/ with some awesome LR that I got from James... he posted his 120 gallon build on this forum. I posted questions on the capability of the eheim 1260 on this forum, which I couldnt get a good answer to , but everyone leans toward the pump not being strong enough to feed the skimmer and cooler and return. I figure, I will put it all together and then adjust as necessary, since I already own the pump.

Uber Kudo's to your patience! When it's done it'll definately be what you wanted and imagined. I use the DIY ATO Deluxe kit from aquahub myself and it can't be beat for the money imo. I am going to ditch the mold a holder though. It's a little to flimsy for my liking.

    Filling the tank

Alright… this is my experience on filling a 40 gallon fish tank with RO/DI water… first I debated on mixing the water with salt on a 12 gallon times 5 or so basis, due to the fact that I have a 12 gallon container… I finally decided to go ahead and stretch the RO/DI filter line across the room from the sink to the tank setup… I started the RO/DI process around 8 or 9pm Japanese standard time on June 19… it is now 2:44 am on June 20 , the tank is almost full… I am using a pump on my RO/DI system with a PSI of 70… the down fall of this is that I can only estimate the gallons of water by the hours of production as I do not know the exact amount of sand and rock I will add to the tank… but this is easily sacrificed for ease of water production. So anyway, tonight, I went ahead and mounted the Aqua controller D8 dealio , put some black electrical tape on the drain line from the tank to sump and black plastic covering on the clear feed line to the skimmer (this will hopefully guard against algae growth in the clear lines)…I drilled the anti-siphon holes in the two return lines to the tank. Connected return lines from the chiller and the skimmer. During the addition of water…I decided to pour the sand tank in…this was a mistake, as I will have to pause the water addition while the sand settles back to the bottom… since all the sand I added to the tank is dead sand… I could have put it in first, to cut down on the water cloudiness. It is 3am, once the water gets to the height of the drain to sump, I may just shut it down and wait for the sand to settle before continuing on with water and salt mixing.

black covering of skimmer line..anti siphon holes in return lines and collection of floating straw or whatever it is from the aragonite sand and skimmer return line (use flexible line that came with the magnivore sump... this is not recommended by the instructions of the skimmer... we shall see how it goes...

Looks great. I wish my RO/DI made water that fast. Mine puts it out at 3.75gph.

That is some great looking rock as well.
