17 M (55ft) Shark Tank

To start off, it might be kind of out of reach for average domestic aquarist and I just wish to share some of my experience in building big tanks.

Tank size - 1700mm x 1200mm x 1200mm(H)
Tank Volume - approx 18000 L (4700 Gal)
Glass Type - laminated glass
Glass Thickness- 1.5 inches for side panels
4.5 inches for bottom panels
Glass Segments - 8500mm x 2 for each side
base is formed from segments of 1000mm x 1100mm panels
Animals in Tank - 24 Black-tip sharks ( each around 24 inches)
Basic Filtration - 6 nos of sand filters
1 filtration tank ( 2000m x 1200mm x 1800mm(H) )
2 Bubble King skimmer each rated for 5 tonnes

The tank is situated on the 24th floor and a lot of works about the transportation of materials and reinforcement of floor structure have to be planned and then be carried out by experts of different professionals.

Tank is 9 months old now and I need time to consolidate the photos and vdieos from my old HDD.

The concepts and constrains in building tanks in offices/homes are much different from building tanks in a public aquarium, usually, space, budget and client's expectation play a too heavy role, turning the project into a delicate balancing game.
