    THE END OF AN ERA

Well, I am sorry (well, not really) to say that our tank will be coming down starting today. Neither Roger nor I are interested in keeping it up anymore as we simply don't have the time to devote to it and, to be honest, have lost interest in it. So, Roger's son, who is visiting from Richmond, will be taking the rock and corals home with him today and the tank will be drained shortly after we sell the fish. We plan on setting it back up again in the near future but most likely as a freshwater discus/planted tank. I'm actually looking forward to seeing it go as it just hasn't been doing well since we had a calcium reactor mishap when we were out of town last summer. I doubt we'll stay out of the hobby for long but at least we have set up a coral bank of sorts so that when we're ready for another saltwater tank, we can just call Roger's son and have him send up some frags of the corals that he's taking home :D

I am sorry to hear that you are going to dismantal your tank. I went back through the thread and looked at your pictures and think you have a beautiful tank. I thought about doing the same thing earlier this year due to tank being neglected due to work, kids activities, etc....but glad I didnt now. I am still trying to recover from the neglect (GHA) but in my mind I am winning the battle. On another note it will be good to know that you will have access to corals thou.

It was a gigas clam. Unfortunately, the clowns that were nesting in it eventually killed it. I don't care for clownfish too much anymore :D

They were not only rubbing against the outside of the clam, they were swimming into the clam through the intake siphon and wiggling around inside it as well. So, they basically irritated it to death. They killed an elegance coral too with their constant rubbing. I wouldn't own a clownfish again if my life depended on it, unless I set up an anemone tank.

I agree with you on the clown fish. They killed my big hammer coral and a bubble coral by irritating it to death. When they are gone there wont be anymore.

If they nest in LPS corals or clams then, yes. They are bad.
